Rhone Brew — An Illustrative Kingdom

Customer: Rhone Brew Brewery/ Task: Illustrative Visual Sistem and Branding

Context

Rhone Brew is a small craft brewery based in a medieval town in France. The brewery and its taproom occupy a historic building, where an original stone blazon inspired the logo.

From the beginning, the client wanted a cast of human figures with the heads of local animals. The challenge was to turn that idea into a believable visual world that could grow over time as new beers were introduced.

Approach

Rather than treating each label as a separate illustration, I built an illustrated kingdom rooted in the character of the place.

Every figure wears historically accurate medieval clothing, while each local animal becomes a distinct personality within the same world. The illustrations were designed not only for the bottles but also for the brewery’s interior, allowing the characters to extend beyond the packaging.

Because the beer range was developed gradually over several years, the visual language had to remain consistent as new labels were added, even after long breaks between releases.

Result

The project became an illustrated kingdom that gives Rhone Brew a distinctive and expandable brand world rather than a collection of individual labels.

The same characters continue to connect packaging and the taproom interior, creating a coherent identity that can grow with every new beer.
