Tractor Camp 4 —
one world, taken apart into a festival

Traktor · Moldova

Scope: festival identity — logo, poster, an illustrated icon library, signage, passes, merch. 17–20 August 2023.

The challenge

The brief was one line. Draw a poster for the fest — make it Moldova and a modern open-air at once. Two worlds that rarely share a field: agriculture and folk craft on one side, electronic open-air on the other.

And a poster is never only a poster here. It has to survive being cut into direction signs, printed on an enamel mug, built as 3D letters at the gate, and shrunk to a pass on a lanyard. So the real task was to invent one world wide enough to walk through.

The face

The answer is the poster — the whole world in a single frame. A hill grows out of two hands holding a boombox. Roads wind up to tractors on the ridge. Folk rosettes bloom like flowers. Speakers, mics and cocktails float in the light. Orange, purple, teal, magenta.

The TK4 lettering is mine, and so is the concept — the brief gave a theme, not a picture.

What stayed,
what changed

Stayed — across the fest

The folk rosette. The palette — orange, purple, teal, magenta. The cut-flat method. The hand. One family, whatever the job.

Changed — every surface

The register runs wide: a dense psychedelic poster, plain two-colour arrow signs, an abstract mark on the merch, physical 3D lettering at the gate. Different jobs, different density.

Every sign was a piece of the same picture.

The world

I drew the world and handed over the assets. The Traktor team built the field from them — where each arrow points, how the booth is wrapped, how the flags fly.

The icons did the navigation. A speaker on a cloud points to the Stage. Cocktails to the Food Court. The pixel couple to the Lounge. The tractor to the Workshop. Same drawings, now doing a job. Its pieces went everywhere — on the posts, the booth wrap, the purple flags, the mugs, the passes on their lanyards.

The result

For three days people sat on hay bales inside the drawing — walked past it, drank from it, found their way by it. Most identities end on a screen. This one you could walk into.
