Beer Label Illustration

Customer: Rockscor Brewery./ Task: Design & Illustration

Label description

This label is part of Rockscore’s ongoing character-driven beer series built around Barry the dog.
For this release, the brewery wanted a new character: a ram obsessed with Barry — sitting at home in a worn-out “alcoholic” sports jersey and shorts, tracking clues and building a fan site like a true fan detective.

The idea let us push the series beyond “one hero, different roles” and expand the world with supporting characters and side stories.
It’s a good example of how an illustrated label system stays consistent — while each new beer gets its own scene, humor, and personality.

Alice in Wonderland Logo

Customer: Alice in the Village, Mystic CT./ Task: Design & Illustration

Specification

To do a re-brand: to separate brand from the Disney Alice in Wonderland Brand. The Lewis Carroll book and characters are all in the public domain so we can use the names and original illustration. Use pastel colours and hand drawings for the design.
Target group is mainly female ages 5-99.

The first stage is sketching and finding an idea.

Of the four options, the client chose the Girl and the White Rabbit sitting on the teapot. All we had to do was polish the logo and present it to the client.

Task

To create a logo for a small business centered around whole body care.

Roots Organics aims to not only nourish the outside of the body to promote healthy hair, skin, and nails — but also focused creating teas, tinctures, and supplements from herbs, plants, and power house vegetables to stimulate healthy skin, hair, and nails from the inside out.

«… I like the brand name to sorta look like it has roots growing from it.. and flowers,mushrooms, and a couple of butterflies to surround it. I hope you can see what I’m trying to describe.»

Design decision

Initially, I had two solutions. One was round and the other was square. My client decided he wants a round one.

I decide to use earthy colors like dark greens, reds, nude brown, light nude brown etc.

The Barrel Cathedral

Task

To make label design for a new craft beer line.

This time my client provided the sketch.

Even though this sketch is very row it gives the designer a lot of information and greatly simplifies his work. And I appreciate it. So, let’s start.

Solution

The challenge was to keep the client’s idea. I also had to think about all the details. My inspiration was gothic architecture, because the trademark of this beer is The Barrel Cathedral. I wanted the label to look modern, but at the same time I needed references to the Middle Ages. And it was not easy. For a more modern feeling I decided to use deep and saturated colors.

Ceramic Mug Illustration

Task

A quote from the brief:

«We’d like to tell the story of how the coffee fruit ripens on the plant — from flower to cherry. I’ll add a link below that details all the steps of the process. We’re going to use the black mug, so the illustration can be in white. I imagine this may be a challenge in only one color. We can add up to one more color in the printing process if that makes a difference. The «direction of the story» can be from left to right so the left side of the illustration starts with the coffee budding as a flower and the story flows to the right. We’d like our logo on the right side of the illustration.»

Facebook cover

Task

Redesign old cover to make page more attractive and professional looking.

Solution

Since my client makes replicas of medieval clothes I decided to do the cover in vintage style. I used the engraving style to convey the right feeling of the middle ages and craft masters. As references for color palette I used medieval tapestries. Also I added a little stylization of a floral gold embroidery on the background.

Coffee packaging redesign

Customer: Borealis Coffee Company./ Task: Design & Illustration

Task

A bag design for packaged coffee and a label design to differentiate between coffees. Objective point is a design that can be used to distinguish between coffee types.

Solution

Actually it was 2 designs. One for coffee bag and one for label — sticker. To reduce the cost of coffee bag, it was decided to make design in one color. In order to distinguish one type of coffee from another, we decided to use colored stickers. To enhance the effect, we decided to use the images of animals from the north — grizzly bear, wolf, moos etc.

In this coffee back design we tried to keep the company brand — small batch nature-loving coffee company coming from the north.

Mug illustration

Customer: Borealis Coffee Company, New York. / Task: Design & Illustration

What the client needed

Our building was originally built as a train station in 1850. The train tracks directly behind our building have been converted into a bike path. Our concept is to have the illustration of the building in the center of the design. A train pulling up to the station on the left side of the design and bikes riding away from the station on the right side of the design. We’d like to the aesthetic to be hand drawn looking. Slightly messy, without looking grungy. An organic feel.

My part of this project

The client provided only his logo and photo of the coffee house. Since the design should be placed in a circle, it was important for me to create the illusion of movement of the train and cyclists. Also I decided to add space with smoke from the chimney of the train and clouds.

Red Crane

Beer description

Beer for the birds! Don’t be fooled by the rich copper hue — our Irish Red Ale is pleasantly sessionable, with just the right touch of roast and toffee notes. A portion of all can sales benefit the Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition.

What the design needed

Since the partners of my customers are a Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition, on the label should have appeared a red crane. We focused on the artistic part of the project because main elements was already developed. The customer wanted the crane to look a bit short-sighted. I was afraid that because of this, the label will have a feeling of a cartoon. But due to the strong anatomy, this effect was avoided.

Valley Girl Blonde

Description of the product

Small, independent craft beer created in a tiny, outdoors oriented mountain valley town. Our Valley Girl Blonde is brewed with Saaz hops and local, raw honey.

What the design needed

Younger female depicted enjoying outdoor and/or mountainous setting, white water rapids, rock climbing, etc. Open to creation of a blonde character to depict the beer, old western themed character, silhouettes or simple design, etc. Branding may be modern outdoorsy, retro outdoorsy or rustic/western «old Colorado» feel. Female needs to be non-sexualized but attractive, actively engaged in her surroundings in an empowering way.
